Kader Klowns

The Kader Klowns were officially formed in 1992; however it started as an aspiration of Gary “Punkin” Bowers in 1986 when PNSCA was in Portland, Oregon. As member of the “uniformed units’ staff “ in charge of competition he noticed that Al Kader’s “Cyclowns” did not compete as clowns nor follow PNSCA, WSCA or ISCA clown rules. The Cylclowns were formed as a fun-loving and somewhat unorthodox unit which dressed in clownish costumes riding on scooters.

The Kader Klowns were later formed because "Punkin" wanted a true Shine Clown Unit.

Kader Klowns Keep Up Tradition - News

Keeping up the winning tradition four of the Kader Klowns competed at the 2007 Western Shrine Clown Association in Reno, returning with ten trophies! The Kader Klowns had not competed for a few years at Western for several reasons however, this year they did, and the winners were. (L to R) Bingo, Freddieee, Ribitz and Teddy Bear)

Fred “Freddieee” Wendt made it five times out of five that a Kader Klown has won the Top Clown award at Western, by winning 3rd in Auguste Face/Costume, 1st in Multiple Balloons, 1st in Paradeablity and part of the Unit Skit 3rd place.

John “Bingo” Heston won 2nd in Auguste Face/Costume, 1st in Single Balloon; Robert “Ribbitz” Montee won 1st in Senior Face/Costume, and he teamed up with Mel “Teddy Bear” Lambert to win 1st in 2-man Skit. All three of these teamed up with Freddiee for the 3rd place Unit Skit.

At least four Kader Klowns will compete at the 2007 Imperial in Anaheim. Making it the largest contingent of Kader Klowns competing at any Imperial since Bob “Sgt BoBo” Walliker, PP (3rd Character Face/Costume) and Forrest “Muggins” Wheeler (4th Auguste Face/Costume) competed at the 1997 Mid-Winter in Las Vegas. Only “Muggins” has competed at Imperial since, receiving awards at two Mid-Winters and three Imperials from 1997 – 2001. What a tradi-tion!
